Super 15: Crusaders maul Lions, Brumbies rout Reds
ALL Blacks flyhalf Dan Carter returned from a monthlong injury layoff to kick four conversions and two penalties yesterday in the Crusaders’ 34-6 win over South Africa’s Lions in Super Rugby.
Defending champions New South Wales Waratahs lost to New Zealand’s Otago Highlanders 19-26 and the ACT Brumbies routed the Queensland Reds 29-0 in a five-try bonus-point win in their Australian derby. The slow-starting Canterbury Crusaders, record seven-time Super Rugby winners, moved up to ninth and within sight of the playoffs with just their second win in five rounds. ACT tops the Australian conference, while the Waratahs are out of the playoff places.
