Chinese skaters win two bronze
CHINESE skaters Liu Quihong and Li Jianrou captured China's first medals at the ISU short track World Cup event in Calgary, Canada, on Saturday when they won bronze medals in the women's 1,000 and 1,500-meter races respectively.
In a race where four-time Olympic gold medalist Wang Meng was knocked out in the quarterfinals, Liu, a 23-year-old from Qitaihe, Heilongjiang Province, posted a time of 1:29.339 in the 1,000 meter Final A, just behind South Korean winner Lee Soyoun and Great Britain's Elise Christie. South Korean women dominated the 1,500m event with Shim Suk-hee finishing first in 2:17.513, ahead of compatriot Cho Ha-ri (2:18.300) and China's Li, a 26-year-old from Jilin. who took the bronze in a time of 2:18.350. Liu and Li were also prominent in the women's 3,000 meters relay.
