CHINESE pair Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo won the gold medal at the Cup of China yesterday, their first figure skating competition since winning the 2007 world title.
The three-time world champions and two-time Olympic bronze medalists finished with 200.97 points, well ahead of Zhang Dan and Zhang Hao of China (186.49) and Tatiana Volosozhar and Stanislav Morozov of Ukraine (170.79).
Nobunari Oda of Japan won his second Grand Prix title of the season, edging world champion Evan Lysacek. Akiko Suzuki was the surprise winner of the women's competition, finishing ahead of Kiira Korpi and world silver medalist Joannie Rochette.
Olympic silver medalists Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto easily won the dance title.
