Shanghai Trophy ticket sales kick off
Ticket sales for the 2019 ISU Shanghai Trophy will kick off on August 12, organizers announced on Thursday. The event will be held at Pudong’s Oriental Sports Center from October 3 to 5, featuring short track speed skating, figure skating and synchronized skating.
The first batch of athletes to confirm their participation include 2018 Winter Games silver medalist Evgenia Medvedeva of Russia, who will bring her new figure skating program to Shanghai.
Kazakh figure skater Elizabet Tursynbayeva and South Korea’s Lim Eun-soo have also handed in their registration, along with 2019 world championship pairs bronze medal winners Natalia Zabiiako and Alexander Enbert from Russia, and ice dancing silver medalists Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov, also from Russia.
Chinese pair Sui Wenjing and Han Cong, the gold medalists of the 2019 worlds, will surely not miss the competition at home.
First held in 2016, the Shanghai Trophy is the first tournament that the International Skating Union has named after a city. It’s also an event where both Winter Olympic Games and non-Winter Olympic competitions are held at the same time.
The short track speed skating disciplines set for this year are the men’s and women’s 1,000 meters, men’s 5,000, women’s 3,000 and 2,000 mixed relay. The figure skating events will see men’s and women’s singles, pairs and ice dance, as well as synchronized skating.
Ticket prices range from 100 yuan (US$14) to 680 yuan. The organizers have also introduced early-bird tickets and family packages. Those interested can buy tickets at www.damai.cn and log on to the event’s official website www.shtrophy.com for more information.
