Wang claims 500 win
WANG Meng of China and German Robert Seifert won 500-meter races at the short-track speedskating World Cup in Nagoya, Japan, yesterday, while South Korea dominated the 1,500.
Wang finished in a time of 44.595 seconds to beat compatriot Liu Qiuhong, who clocked 45.111. South Korea's Shim Suk-hee was third in 45.149.
Seifert timed 41.314 seconds to edge out Charles Hamelin of Canada by 0.018 seconds. Travis Jayner of the United States was third in 41.398.
Lee So-youn of South Africa won the women's 1,500 in 2:31.814, 0.037 seconds ahead of Britain's Elise Christie. Kong Xue of China was third in 2:31.945.
China also won the women's 3,000 relay.
