Mayer bruises legs

OLYMPIC downhill champion Matthias Mayer of Austria could miss the season-opening World Cup event next week in Soelden after bruising both legs in a training crash yesterday. The Austrian ski federation said that Mayer fell during a super-G run on the Pitztaler glacier and has to rest for 5-7 days.
