Ding fined for substandard game
CHINA'S Ding Junhui has accepted a fine of 2,000 pounds (US$3255) for failing to notify tournament officials of a medical condition that resulted in him not competing to the best of his ability in Euro Players Tour Championship event three earlier this season.
During the match against Liang Wenbo in Russelsheim, Germany, on October 23, 2010, Ding did not perform to his usual very high standards. The officials reported his conduct to the association, which determined that a disciplinary committee should be convened to investigate matters. Ding apologized but explained that his performance had been adversely affected by ill health.
