AC Milan beats Fiorentina 2-1 in Serie A
ALEXANDRE Pato scored in injury time yesterday as AC Milan rallied to win 2-1 at Fiorentina and rise to second place in the Serie A.
Pato's goal was his 10th of the season and came nine minutes after Milan substitute Klaas Jan Huntelaar had come off the bench to score. Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino gave the hosts the lead in the 14th minute.
Inter Milan leads the standings with 55 points, four more than Milan and five in front of AS Roma.
In Wednesday's other match, Udinese came from behind to beat Cagliari 2-1 in Pasquale Marino's first match since returning as Udinese coach.
Udinese's Alex Sanchez and Antonio Di Natale scored second-half goals after Jeda had given Cagliari the lead in the first half.
Milan attacked from the start and came close to scoring in the second minute. Andrea Pirlo's shot was cleared off the line in a combined effort by Riccardo Montolivio and goalkeeper Sebastien Frey.
However, it was Fiorentina which went in front in the 14th minute when Gilardino turned the ball past goalkeeper Christian Abbiati following a flowing move involving Montolivio, Juan Vargas and Stevan Jovetic.
Fiorentina produced a similar move down the right wing in the 27th, but Gilardino miscued his shot after Lorenzo De Silvestri had pulled the ball back to him.
Early in the second half, Pato twice failed keep his shot on target when in a good position to score.
Huntelaar came off the bench and equalized soon after, sliding a through ball from Ronaldinho past Frey.
Abbiati denied Fiorentina in injury time by pushing Vargas' shot away for a corner, before Pato struck just before the whistle.
