ATLETICO Madrid forward Sergio Aguero, a target for Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in January, has asked the La Liga club to release him from his contract, the Argentina international said on Monday.
The 22-year-old, who has a child with Diego Maradona's daughter, extended his contract to 2014 in January but his buy-out clause was reduced from 60 million euros (US$84.4 million) to 45 million, prompting speculation about a possible exit. Atletico missed out on the Champions League, but qualified for the Europa League.
