Arteta joins City staff
MIKEL Arteta says he is joining the coaching staff at Manchester City, making the announcement on the day Pep Guardiola was presented as the club’s new manager.
Arteta said he is retiring as a player, leaving Arsenal — where he has played for five years and was captain — to begin his coaching career. In a statement on his Twitter page yesterday, Arteta says the chance to “join Pep Guardiola and his team was an amazing opportunity for me”. Arteta began his career at Barcelona, when Guardiola was playing for the Spanish club’s first team. Guardiola was presented to City’s fans at an event at the Etihad Stadium later.
