Atletico's De Gea denies United deal
ATLETICO de Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea has denied a deal has been struck that will take him to English Premier League champion Manchester United.
In a statement released by his lawyer to the Spanish media, the highly-rated 20-year-old said he would not consider any offer, either a contract extension with Atletico or any other, until he had completed his duties with the Spanish under-21 team at the end of June. "In the light of articles in various media that indicated he (De Gea) had been signed by Manchester United, he wants to deny said reports as it is not true he has been signed," the statement said. United manager Alex Ferguson told Sky Sports News on Tuesday the club was closing in on a deal to sign De Gea as a replacement for Dutchman Edwin van der Sar, who will retire after tonight's Champions League final.
