Baines stays
England left back Leighton Baines has signed a new four-year contract with Everton, ending Manchester United’s hopes of luring the defender to Old Trafford. The 29-year-old has established himself as one of the top attacking full backs in the country and was the subject of two bids from United during the last offseason. Baines, who joined Everton from Wigan Athletic in 2007, is battling with Chelsea’s Ashley Cole to be England’s starting left back at the World Cup in Brazil.
