Bayern eases into third round of German Cup
DEFENDER Daniel van Buyten scored twice in a 5-0 win over second-division Rot-Weiss Oberhausen to help Bayern Munich reach the third round of the German Cup yesterday.
Van Buyten also scored Bayern's winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Nuremberg in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Italy striker Luca Toni, coming back from an Achilles' tendon injury, made his first appearance for Bayern this season in the second half but did not score.
Philipp Lahm, Mario Gomez and substitute Thomas Mueller, with his first touch of the ball, also scored.
Nuremberg, the 2007 German Cup winner, lost again, falling at home 1-0 to Hoffenheim, whose goal came from Per Nilsson.
Schalke routed Bochum 3-0 on the road. Bochum fired coach Marcel Koller on Sunday and the match marked Frank Heinemann's debut as interim coach.
Halil Altintop and Heiko Westermann scored for Schalke, which also profited from an own goal by Christian Fuchs.
Schalke coach Felix Magath was missing nine players due to injuries and illness.
