Bayern nets ace Robben from Real

BAYERN Munich signed Dutch winger Arjen Robben from Real Madrid yesterday in a bid to improve on its stuttering start to the season.

The 25-year-old international signed a four-year contract after passing a medical earlier in the day, the Bundesliga club said on its Website.

"It's done," said the club. "Arjen Robben will strengthen the Bayern squad with immediate effect."

It said Robben would train later in the day and would be available for today's match at home to champion VfL Wolfsburg, when Bayern will attempt to chalk up its first win of the season.

Under new coach Louis van Gaal, Bayern has taken only two points from its first three games in the Bavarians' worst start to a season for 43 years.

Elsewhere, South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-yong of FC Seoul will transfer to Celtic next year.

The 20-year-old Ki will move to Scotland in January, after the South Korean season, FC Seoul said on its Website yesterday.

"The Scottish club said it wants to sign Ki, who has attracted many calls from European teams," FC Seoul said.

The two teams are working out the details of the contract, including the transfer fee.
