Bayern record
European champion Bayern Munich set a new record for the longest unbeaten run in German Bundesliga history with a 3-0 victory at home to Augsburg on Saturday.
Bayern has now gone 37 league matches since its last defeat, at Bayer Leverkusen in October 2012, breaking Hamburg’s previous record of 36 from January 1983.
“The record is unbelievable, it’s not easy to go 37 games without defeat. Congratulations to the club,” said Bayern coach Pep Guardiola, who took charge in June.
“I have noticed that every game is a lesson for me in understanding my team.”
Guardiola’s Bayern faces its biggest test in a fortnight when the Bavarians travel to second-placed Borussia Dortmund in a repeat of last season’s Champions League final.
