Beckham's Galaxy to return to Australia

David Beckham will lock horns with Australia's Harry Kewell when LA Galaxy meet the A-League's Melbourne Victory for a December friendly.

The former England captain has visited Australia with the Galaxy twice before but the December 6 match will be his first in Melbourne, and officials hope the recent signing of Kewell will draw record crowds.

The 32-year-old left Australia as a teenager for England and played for Leeds and Liverpool before moving to Turkey's Galatasaray in a stellar 15-year career that has seen him contest four World Cup campaigns.

"Kewell is one of the greatest Australian players in history," the Galaxy said.

The US side has never played Melbourne Victory, twice winners of the A-League, and said they were anticipating a tough clash.

Beckham, 36, brought the Galaxy to Australia last November for a friendly against the Newcastle Jets which they lost 2-1 -- their second loss to an Australian side after a 5-3 defeat by Sydney FC in 2007.
