Benteke in Reds deal
LIVERPOOL has agreed a 32.5 million pound (US$50.73 million) deal with fellow English Premier League side Aston Villa for striker Christian Benteke, British media reported yesterday.
The 24-year-old Belgian international will undergo a medical by tomorrow and is unlikely to join his new team on its current preseason tour of Australia and Asia, the BBC reported.
Liverpool club doctor will leave the team in Australia and fly back to Britain to conduct his medical, it said.
Since joining Aston Villa from Genk in 2012 in a 7-million pound move, Benteke, who still has two years left on his Villa contract, has scored 49 goals in 101 appearances, helping the Birmingham club avoid relegation last season.
Liverpool made the bid for Benteke after selling Raheem Sterling to Manchester City for a record fee of 49 million pounds.
