Big cash for Anelka jersey

French striker Nicolas Anelka's Shanghai Shenhua jersey was auctioned for 80,000 yuan (US$12,702) yesterday during his first home match for the soccer club.
Shanghai Shenhua tied 0-0 with Shanghai Dongya, a team in the second division of the Chinese soccer league, in its last warm-up match before the Chinese Super League's new season kicks off on March 10.
Anelka attracted most of the attention at Hongkou Stadium yesterday especially during the half-time auction.
Anelka's signed jersey, which he wore during the first half of the match, along with a soccer ball and season's tickets were auctioned with a starting price of 30,000 yuan.
When the bid reached 55,000 yuan, a junior student from Shanghai Maritime University bid 80,000 yuan to win the auction.
The woman asked to remain anonymous, but said she is a Chelsea fan and has following Anelka for a long time.
