Blazevic set to join Shenhua as coach

CHINESE Super League side Shanghai Shenhua is set to name Bosnian Miroslav Blazevic as its head coach for the new season, the club announced on its Website.

The 74-year-old former Bosnia-Herzegovina manager will fly to Shanghai on Tuesday to sign the contract. He is rumored to take home an annual salary of 1 million euros (US$1,465,531). Shenhua boss Zhu Jun has termed the deal as a "Christmas gift for fans." Blazevic will replace Jia Xiuquan, whose contract runs out in January. He was instrumental in guiding the Croatian national team to third place at the 1998 World Cup in France. Shenhua finished fourth in the CSL this year which was won by Beijing Guo'an.
