Borussia beats Mainz 2-0 in Bundesliga
BORUSSIA Moenchengladbach won 2-0 in yesterday's match in which both Mainz goalkeepers were injured, leaving it without a healthy keeper with Bundesliga experience.
Raul Bobadilla scored in the 29th minute in front of 42,217 onlookers at Borussia Park, and Marco Reuss doubled the lead in the 84th.
Mainz starting keeper Heinz Mueller was withdrawn in the first half due to a pulled stomach muscle. His replacement, Christian Wetklo, was taken to a hospital after the game to evaluate a suspected broken leg.
With longtime starter Dimo Wache sidelined with a knee injury, Mainz was without a healthy goalie who has played in the German first division. Its next match will be against Hertha on Sept. 12.
"I hope that with Heinz Mueller it isn't so bad and that he can stand in goal again against Hertha Berlin," Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel said.
