Bremen shares points with Schalke at German Bundesliga

SCHALKE turned a 0-1 deficit against Bremen to shared points thanks to striker Edu yesterday Bundesliga.

Hamburg and Hannover also tied at the northern derby while Stuttgart overcame Cologne in 12 minutes to win 3-1. Wolfsburg suffered a setback at relegation battle when they were held to a 2-2 against promoted St. Pauli.

Hamburg failed to gain points for UEFA European League against Hannover as both sides split points after goalless 90 minutes. Hannover staged a better half whereas Hamburg took over with the second half.

Both teams remain on their positions -- Hamburgis on the 7th position with 43 points whilst Hannover occupies 3rd position along 54 points.

After the terrific match against Inter Milan, Schalke shared points against struggling Bremen. Bremen opened the scoring through youngster striker Sandro Wagnger who converted a penalty with the rebound at the 59th minute.

Schalke remained unfazed and leveled the score only four minutes later through striker Edu who nodded home unmarked from goal area. Bremen jumped 13th to 11th position at 35 points whereas Schalke slipped to 10th with 40 points.

Struggling Stuttgart scored in 12 minutes 3 goals to win 3-1 over midtable Cologne. Midfielder Christian Traesch marked the opener at the 51st minute for Stuttgart.

Striker mate Martin Harnik and midfielder mate Zdravko Kuzmanovic extended the score to 3-0 to astonish Cologne. Kuzmanovic converted a controversial handball at the 62nd minute to make it 3-0 for his side.

Cologne turned up but was only able to score a consolation goal through striker Milivoje Novakovic at the 68th minute. Cologne slipped to 12th position with 35 points meanwhile Stuttgart climbed to 14th position with 33 points.

Wolfsburg remains winless in four consecutive matches under new coach Felix Magath as they shared points with promoted St. Pauli after a two all draw.

Striker Mario Mandzukic opened the scoring for the "Wolves" at the 39th minute but St. Pauli turned around through midfielder Deniz Naki at the 61st minute and midfielder Matthias Lehmann at the 77th minute.

A dead ball situation saved Wolfsburg from a disgrace as midfielder Jan Polak headed home the equalizer one minute before final whistle.

Both sides stay at relegation zone as Wolfsburg on 16th position with 29 points and promoted St. Pauli on 17th position along 29 points but with a weaker goal difference.

Hoffenheim sealed a neat 1-0 win over Frankfurt thanks to a joker midfielder Roberto Firmino who utilized a rebound by striker Ryan Babel at the 79th minute to net the winner against Frankfurt.

Hoffenheim jumped to 9th position with 40 points while Frankfurt slipped to 15th position at 33 points.

Nuremberg defeats Kaiserslautern 2-0 to improve their chances for a UEFA European League berth. Nuremberg occupies 6th position with 46 points while Kaiserslautern went down to 13 positions at 34 points.

Already on Friday Mainz defeated bottom team Monchengladbach owing a winner by youngster striker Andre Schuerrle three minutes before final whistle.

Today, Bundesliga leader Dormund will host Freiburg meanwhile defending champion Bayern meets second positioned Leverkusen.
