Bruckner quits
KAREL Bruckner left as coach of Austria on Monday after winning only one game in seven matches. Bruckner, who lives in his native Czech Republic, and new Austrian football federation president Leo Windtner spoke on the phone and decided to part company by mutual consent, the federation said.
Besides the one win, Austria drew twice and lost four times under Bruckner and is virtually certain to miss out on qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The federation said it hoped to announce a new coach within the next 10 days.
