CAS rejects al-Hilal case over ACL final
The Court of Arbitration for Sport has rejected an appeal by Saudi Arabian club al-Hilal to play in the Asian Champions League final.
CAS says al-Hilal’s claim that semifinal opponent al-Ahli fielded an ineligible player was dismissed at an emergency hearing in Lausanne yesterday. The ruling means al-Ahli hosts China’s Guangzhou Evergrande in Dubai in Saturday’s first leg of the final. Al-Hilal claimed forward Ossama al-Saidi was not properly registered to appear as a second-half substitute in al-Ahli’s 3-2 win in the semifinal second leg on October 20. Al-Ahli won 4-3 on aggregate.
