Camacho satisfied with squad
CHINA'S new national team coach Jose Antonio Camacho said he was delighted after completing his first day's work with the national team, Spanish newspaper Diario AS reported yesterday.
The former Real Madrid player and Spain national coach will make his debut as China's coach in the game against Singapore in Beijing on September 2.
The Spaniard has been tasked with the job to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
A man known for his passion and commitment to his sides, Camacho was satisfied after training with the players on the first day.
"I am satisfied. The installations at Kunming are good and the players have arrived motivated and with a will to work hard, the same as myself and the other coaches," said Camacho.
Instant miracles
"We are going to do all that we can to make this work, but there are no instant miracles in football. I have said in the past that China has everything it needs to succeed, but it is going to be a medium-term plan.
"Now we are concentrating on the qualification for the World Cup, but the country must also make progress in grass root football, in schools and with children," he said.
Camacho insisted that he had no problem communicating with the Chinese players.
"The language of football is universal and we have not had any problems understanding each other. Some of these players have been in Europe - in Portugal and the (English) Premier League and there is no problem," he assured.
The coach said that he was comfortable in China, despite not having been able to find a house of his own to live in.
He added that rather than just look ahead to the World Cup, he preferred to take things one game at a time.
"My first hope is that we can beat Singapore," said Camacho.
