Champions Porto win 4-1 at Trofense in Portugal

ERNESTO Farias and Lisandro Lopez scored twice to help newly crowned champions Porto cruise to a 4-1 victory at lowly Trofense in the Portuguese league yesterday.

Farias struck in the 29th and 80th minutes, while Lisandro scored in the 43rd and 62nd for Porto, which clinched its fourth straight title and 24th overall last Sunday.

Trofense's late consolation goal came through Hugo Leal and the defeat dropped it into last place.

Sporting, already assured of second place and a berth in next season's Champions League qualifying round, won 2-1 at Maritimo courtesy of goals by Liedson in the 26th and the 74th.

Liedson's goals lifted him atop the league's scoring chart with 19, level with Nacional's Nene. Olberdam scored late for the home team.

With one match remaining, Porto has 69 points, six points ahead of Sporting. Benfica follows with 53, four more than Nacional. Benfica visits Braga, while Nacional hosts Pacos Ferreira today.

Yesterday's other results were: Setubal 0, Leixoes 1; Amadora 1, Guimaraes 0; Academica 3, Naval 1; and Belenenses 1, Rio Ave 0.

Leixoes won at Setubal courtesy of Bruno China's 40th-minute goal, while Anselmo's injury-time goal brought Amadora victory over Guimaraes.

Academica staged a second-half rally after Naval scored in the 26th minute through Paulao. The home team netted through Eder, Seygou and Saleiro.

Belenenses leapfrogged Trofense to rise off the foot of the standings thanks to Wender's 87th-minute goal against fellow strugglers Rio Ave.
