Mohamed Salah, Chelsea’s new signing from Basel, has been named best player of 2013 at the Swiss Football League awards.
The Egypt midfielder was also voted the fans’ favorite player. Salah did not attend the awards ceremony held on Monday, having completed his move to Chelsea at the weekend. The 22-year-old Salah signed a contract through June 2019 with the London club, which reportedly will pay Basel a fee of 11 million pounds (US$18.1 million). Basel club president Bernhard Heusler collected Salah’s trophy and promised he would “present it to Mohamed personally”.
