Cole not for sale, insists Ancelotti
CHELSEA manager Carlo Ancelotti described defender Ashley Cole as "the best left-back in the world" on Sunday and said the England international would not be leaving the Premier League champion.
Cole, 29, has been linked in media reports with a reunion with former Blues coach Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.
"Ashley Cole will not be sold at any price," Italian Ancelotti told reporters after Chelsea lost 1-2 to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt in a pre-season friendly.
"There is no price that we would sell him at. We believe he is the best left-back in the world and because of this he will stay at this club.
"Nothing has changed in our position. Everyone can forget about Ashley Cole leaving this club."
Eintracht took the lead through Patrick Ochs and, after midfielder Frank Lampard had equalized for Chelsea, Halil Altintop struck the winner from the penalty spot.
Chelsea plays Manchester United in the Charity Shield, English football's annual curtain-raiser, next Sunday at Wembley.
In London, Arsenal won the preseason Emirates Cup for a second straight year, beating Celtic 3-2 with goals from Carlos Vela, Bacary Sagna and Samir Nasri.
Vela scored in the third minute when Theo Walcott passed the ball into the six-yard box and the Mexico international slid in to tap past Celtic goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska.
Sagna scored with less than a minute to go before halftime with a left-foot volley after a casual pass from Tomas Rosicky found him on the edge of the area. Nasri scored in the 51st from close range after Walcott set him up inside the area.
"I'm pleased with the two days" of the tournament, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said.
"We had good opponents, teams that didn't give up."
Wenger praised the team's two new players, striker Marouane Chamakh and center back Laurent Koscielny. He also said he's searching for one or two more players - at least one of them a center back with William Gallas, Sol Campbell, Mikael Silvestre and Philippe Senderos having left the club.
