Conca eyes move back to China
CHINESE fans were happy to learn yesterday that Fluminense attacking midfielder Dario Conca is considering a return to China.
Universal Sports in Brazil reported that Conca would consider an offer from a Chinese Super League club.
Through the club’s name was not revealed, it was rumored that Shanghai SIPG Football Club is involved behind the scenes.
“Is it for real? I like Conca a lot,” wrote web user “Ming,” commenting on the report on Suhu.com.
Argentine Conca, former Brazilian MVP, is well-known in China after a successful two-and-a-half year spell with Guangzhou Evergrande, ending in December 2013.
He returned to his former club Fluminense last January and scored 16 goals in 59 matches across all competitions in 2014.
“No matter which club he joins, Evergrande fans will applaud him. Thank you Conca for giving your best time to Evergrande,” said web user “Drunken Beauty.”
Conca is said to be unhappy at Fluminense due to a delay in the payment of image rights after investment group Unimed parted ways with the club at the end of 2014. Image rights revenue makes up most of Conca’s salary at Fluminense.
