Crowd trouble mars Rome derby
SIX people have been arrested after clashes between fans and police at the Rome derby.
The ANSA news agency reports that five fans were stopped in incidents outside the stadium before Sunday's game between AS Roma and Lazio, and a steward working inside the stadium was arrested during the match for obstructing a police officer.
Two other fans were found to be in possession of large firecrackers, with one fan hurt when he attempted to launch a firecracker and it exploded in his hand instead.
Several people, including police officers, were injured. The game was suspended for nearly 10 minutes during the first half due to exploding firecrackers.
Defender Marco Cassetti slammed in 11 minutes from time to give Roma a 1-0 win.
The suspension took the sting out of the contest but lowly Lazio almost snatched the lead when Mauro Zarate struck the post before Cassetti swept in Mirko Vucinic's cross.
Roma's David Pizarro was dismissed for two bookings while there was the customary scuffle among player at the end.
In-form Roma is now just a point off the Champions League places after a bad start while Lazio coach Davide Ballardini, who continually overlooks Goran Pandev after its top striker asked for a close-season move, is clinging to his job.
French forward Jonathan Biabiany earlier scored his first two Serie A goals to put Parma clear in fourth place after a 2-2 draw at Genoa, where club presidents were involved in a heated post-match argument.
