Departing Benitez donates to charity
FORMER Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has donated 96,000 pounds (US$139,800) to the charity supporting the families of victims of the Hillsborough disaster.
The Spaniard, who left Anfield last week, took charge at Inter Milan on Thursday. Benitez returned to Liverpool this week to make the donation, 1,000 pounds for each of the supporters that died during a spectator crush at Sheffield's Hillsborough stadium at an FA Cup semi-final in 1989. "He handed a cheque over and wished us all the best in the quest for the truth," said chairwoman of the Hillsborough Families Support Group Margaret Aspinall.
