SHANDONG Luneng defeated Japan's Sanfrecce Hiroshima 1-0 away in its opening match in the 2010 Asian Champions League yesterday.
Chinese forward Han Peng struck in the 76th minute to give the two-time Chinese Super League champions the sole score of the night in Tokyo. Under new coach Branko Ivankovic, Shandong hopes for a better tournament after being eliminated at the group stage last year. Sanfrecce is making its ACL debut following a fourth place finish in the J-League.
