Eto'o brace powers Inter past Palermo
SAMUEL Eto'o scored twice and five-time defending champion Inter Milan rallied to beat Palermo 2-1 yesterday and return to the top of the Italian Serie A table.
Josip Ilicic put the hosts ahead after 28 minutes in the Sicilian capital before Cameroon's Eto'o, continuing his strong start to the season, produced a piece of magic to equalize on 62 minutes and finished off a fine move in the 70th to seal the victory.
With seven points, Inter shares the Italian league lead with newly promoted Cesena, which beat Lecce 1-0 despite having to play with 10 men due to a referee's error.
Juventus bounced back to form with a 4-0 win at last-place Udinese in its third outing of the Serie A season with Fabio Quagliarella scoring against his former club.
Leonardo Bonucci, Claudio Marchisio and Vincenzo Iaquinta also scored for the Turin outfit.
Striker Marco Borriello netted his first league goal for AS Roma but Claudio Ranieri's faltering side drew 2-2 with Bologna having been 2-0 up. Roma remained winless after allowing a late Marco Di Vaio brace.
Also, Chievo Verona's perfect start was snapped with a 0-1 loss to Brescia, with Alessandro Diamanti - who played for West Ham United in the English Premier League last season - scoring from a free kick in the 30th.
Luca Toni converted a penalty for his first goal since joining Genoa but Cristian Zaccardo scored a second-half equalizer for a 1-1 draw at Parma. Earlier, Bari and Cagliari drew 0-0.
On Saturday, Filippo Inzaghi scored the equalizer as AC Milan drew 1-1 with Catania and Lazio beat Fiorentina 2-1.
Sampdoria was playing Napoli later in the final match of the weekend.
Players had called for a strike this weekend due to a contract dispute, although there are signs the row could be resolved over the next few days.
