Fabregas plays down Spain move talks

ARSENAL midfielder Cesc Fabregas played down speculation that his future lies outside the Premier League as he works to overcome a hamstring injury.

Fabregas was quoted by a Spanish newspaper saying his focus is on recovering from the injury and not the constant press reports linking him with European champion Barcelona and Real Madrid.

"I'm relaxed and happy at Arsenal and in England and there's still a lot left for me to achieve," Fabregas told Marca yesterday. "That's all I can say. I'm not thinking about anything else."

The 22-year-old has been a regular since the age of 16, soon after he joined the north London club from Barcelona's youth academy. The Arsenal captain has been regularly linked with a move back to Spain since the summer.

"I've come to one conclusion - it's better not to talk about these things," Fabregas said. "You know the only thing that worries me? This injury. I want to recover from this slight muscle problem as soon as possible."

The Spain international aggravated his injury when he scored his second goal in a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday. He is awaiting a medical scan to show the extent of the injury, which could keep him out for as long as three weeks.

"I didn't want to risk it," Fabregas said. "But I don't like sitting on the bench and I was feeling good."

Arsenal's Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelen has said Fabregas' absence will not prevent the club from maintaining a push for the title.

"Cesc is very important for us but it's the same with Robin (van Persie), who is also important for us but they're injured and we have to do it without them," the Belgian said.

"I think we have other good midfielders who can fill that gap."
