Ferguson plans to extend Rooney's contract
MANCHESTER United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said the club has plans to extend Wayne Rooney's contract.
"There's no issue with his contract," Ferguson said. "When it has to be renegotiated it will be. We don't want players to leave."
Rooney was dropped to the bench for Tuesday's Champions League match against Real Madrid, United's biggest game of the season, sparking speculation he could be headed for the Old Trafford exit.
Rooney's current deal expires at the end of the 2014-15 season.
