Guangzhou denies making a bid for Real's Kaka

CHINESE Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande has denied talks of making a bid for the Brazilian and Real Madrid star Kaka, saying the club has no plans to make changes for its foreign imports.
"I don't know how these reports came up (but) we have already registered all our 7 foreign players for this season and we have no plans to change any of them," club president Liu Yongzhuo said.
Earlier this week, Italian paper El Corriere dello Sport and Spain's Diario AS both reported that Guangzhou was prepared to offer Kaka around 18 million euros a season on top of the 25 million euros for Kaka's club Real Madrid.
"According to the China Football Association regulations, after the summer transfer window closes, we cannot make any changes among our foreign players until the end of 2012," Liu said.
According to Liu, there is no chance Kaka can be at Evergrande before the end of the 2012 season.
The 22-year old South Korean defender Kim Young-kwon became the seventh - and the last - foreign player to join the club two days ago.
The defending CSL champion is enjoying a special clause in terms of the number of foreign players it can get after becoming the only team from China to reach the final 8 of AFC Champions league. Guangzhou thus boasts a squad of 7 foreign players - two more than other CSL clubs.
Liu believes the big transfer names linked with Evergrande, though sometimes false, was a reflection of the club's growing international stature.
"We have been linked more and more with big transfer news. Such news, though sheer rumors sometimes, also suggests our strong international influence," Liu said. "You could hardly have imagined few years ago that big stars like Kaka would be linked to a Chinese club."
Guangzhou is managed by Italian veteran and a World Cup winning coach Marcelo Lippi.
