Guangzhou fines disrespectful player
CHINESE Super League side Guangzhou Hengda said yesterday it has fined Brazilian midfielder Renato Adriano Jaco Morais and given him a three-game suspension for being disrespectful to the team's coach and fans.
The club said that Renato was punished because he did not shake hands with his coach or show his thanks to the fans after he was substituted in a 2-2 draw with Beijing Guo'an on Sunday. It said 14,000 euros (US$20,000) would be deducted from Rentao's salary and he would be fined another 32,000 euros (US$46,000). Hengda brought Renato to China from the Brazilian club Botafogo on a four-year deal worth 1.75 million euros.
