Guoan seals 3rd straight win, 10-man SIPG held

Zhang Xizhe and Alan Douglas each scored to help Beijing Guoan seal a 3-1 win over Tianjin Teda in the third round of the Chinese Super League, while Qingdao Huanghai’s new coach Wu Jingui made his debut during his side’s 1-1 draw against an out-of-sorts Shanghai SIPG in Suzhou yesterday.

Douglas gave Guoan the lead in the 39th minute, with Rong Hao curling in a shot on 61 minutes to get Teda level. In the 77th, Zhang played a one-two with Li Ke before firing into the net. Under pressure from Guoan center back Yu Dabao, Lan Jingxuan gifted an own goal, sealing Beijing’s 3-1 victory. The Qingdao-SIPG match was lifeless in the first half. Then SIPG defender Wei Zhen saw a straight red card in the 66th for a foul on Romain Alessandrini. Wang Dong scored the resulting penalty for Huanghai. However, Alessandrini’s foul on Li Shenglong provided SIPG with a late penalty in the 88th minute, from which Oscar scored to tie the game up. Guoan leads Group B with 9 points, followed by SIPG on 7. Qingdao is fifth in the 8-team group with 2 points while Teda is seventh on 1 point.
