Henan holds Greenland; East Asia, Shenxin win

SHANGHAI Greenland Shenhua could only draw 0-0 against Henan Jianye at Hongkou Football Stadium last night but the other two local teams managed to grab three points each on Friday in the fourth round of the Chinese Super League.
With two straight defeats in the previous rounds, Shenhua was understandably cautious after kickoff, a sentiment shared by visiting Henan which has notched just a solitary point from its three matches. Despite a few chances created by both sides, there was not much in terms of high points throughout the 90 minutes. With Shenhua’s Syrian striker Firas al-Khatib hitting the post in the closing minutes, the listless match ended goalless.
Al-Khatib was sent on in the second half to replace Colombian forward Luis Carlos Ruiz, who still needs time to fit into the team’s attacking system.
Shenhua sits 11th on four points in the 16-team standing.
The other two Shanghai teams both clinched 1-0 victories in matches played on Friday.
In a battle between the two top-ranked teams, Shanghai East Asia beat Beijing Guo’an at home. The sole goal came in the 69th minute when Wu Lei’s shot was touched by Beijing goalie Yang Zhi and hit the post. East Asia’s Swedish striker Tobias Hysen was on hand to tap it in before Yang could react again.
East Asia tops the CSL standing on 10 points, followed by Guangzhou Evergrande and Beijing, both on 9 points.
Shanghai Shenxin enjoyed its first victory after three straight losses by beating Guizhou Renhe in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou Province, thanks to an 82nd-minute effort from Brazilian striker Jailton Paraiba from top of the box.
Elsewhere, Dalian Aerbin overcame Changchun Yatai 2-1; Evergrande beat Jiangsu Sainty 2-0; and Shandong Luneng edged Liaoning Whowin 1-0.
