ICC declares Botha's 'doosra' illegal
SOUTH Africa off-spinner Johan Botha can play in next month's Twenty20 World Cup after his action was cleared by the International Cricket Council but he is not allowed to bowl the 'doosra.'
He had been named in South Africa's squad as vice-captain for the event in England despite being reported last month for a suspect bowling action. An ICC statement said an independent test found Botha's 'doosra' was illegal, even though his other deliveries were acceptable. The analysis on Botha, who has played 45 ODIs, two tests and nine Twenty20s, was performed by a member of the ICC's panel of human movement specialists in Perth.
