Ibrahimovic strike derails Rafa's Inter
ZLATAN Ibrahimovic scored with an early penalty on Sunday to give AC Milan a 1-0 win against former team Inter Milan and end a run of three losses in the Serie A derby.
The Sweden forward converted his spot kick past goalkeeper Luca Castelazzi in the fifth minute at the San Siro after he was brought down by Marco Materazzi.
It was Ibrahimovic's first Milan derby since leaving Inter for Barcelona in 2009.
Milan leads the standings with 26 points, one more than Lazio. Napoli is third with 21, and Juventus and Inter have 20 points.
"It wasn't an easy goal as it was in front of the Inter fans at their home game, but I did what I had to do and tried to concentrate," Ibrahimovic said.
"I think it gave the team confidence and we became more calm and it helped us win."
Also on Sunday, Lazio beat Napoli 2-0 through goals from Mauro Zarate and Sergio Floccari and Bologna downed Brescia 1-0 and Genoa won 1-0 at Cagliari.
Coach Massimiliano Allegri triumphed in his first derby despite having right back Ignazio Abate sent off with half an hour left and the pressure intensified on his Inter counterpart Rafael Benitez, also overseeing his first all-city clash.
The defeat in what counted as an Inter home game in the shared San Siro, packed with 80,000 noisy fans, was the champion's first home league loss in over 2-1/2 years.
Injury-hit Inter started with a new 4-3-1-2 formation but it failed to gel and Benitez was soon regretting the inclusion of 37-year-old Materazzi for his first league appearance this season.
Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt watched on in the stands but Inter lacked pace and urgency despite decent pressure in the latter stages.
