Inter ends losing streak with Parma win

INJURY-DEPLETED Inter Milan needed a late goal from Tommaso Rocchi to beat visiting Parma 1-0 yesterday and end its three-match losing streak.

In the 81st minute at the San Siro, Rocchi took a pass from Brazilian fullback Jonathan and slotted past Parma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante from the center of the area.

The victory gave under-pressure Inter manager Andrea Stramaccioni some much-needed breathing room and moved the Nerazzurri into provisional fifth place, which carries a Europa League berth.

Parma remained in the middle of the table in 11th place.

In its last three matches, Inter had been outscored 9-5.

With an entire squad's worth of players injured, Inter had six youth squad players on its bench and 19-year-old forward Luca Garritano came on in the second half of the game.

On Saturday, Antonio Di Natale scored an acrobatic goal as Udinese beat Lazio 1-0.

In the 19th minute at Stadio Friuli, Di Natale redirected a cross from Gabriel Silva with a bicycle kick for his 18th Italian league goal of the season, moving him within four of league leader Edinson Cavani of Napoli.

Earlier, Atalanta moved closer to safety with a 1-1 draw at Genoa, which left the hosts stuck in the relegation zone.

Antonio Floro Flores put Genoa ahead in the sixth with a header and Atalanta defender Cristiano Del Grosso equalized two minutes later following a corner.

Atalanta, which began the season with a two-point penalty for match-fixing, is 12th. Genoa is third from bottom, one point ahead of Palermo.
