Inter surges four clear as Milan loses
INTER Milan recovered from a sticky patch to go four points clear at the top of Serie A after Samuel Eto'o's superb double set up a 3-0 home win over bottom side Livorno on Wednesday.
Second-placed AC Milan lost 0-1 at Parma to a late Valeri Bojinov goal, damaging its title hopes with eight games left.
AS Roma, which is level with Milan and hosts Inter on Saturday, outgunned Bologna 2-0 away thanks to second-half goals from John Arne Riise and Julio Baptista.
Inter defender Cristian Chivu made his comeback from a fractured skull wearing special headgear and forgotten man Ricardo Quaresma played on the left of a three-pronged attack following minor injuries to Diego Milito and Wesley Sneijder.
Livorno showed decent ambition early on against the edgy hosts, who had won just once in their last seven league outings.
Eto'o settled the nerves on 36 minutes by collecting Thiago Motta's pass inside the box and finishing with aplomb.
The Cameroon striker wasted another effort moments later before making it 2-0 when goalkeeper Rubinho failed to keep out his overhead kick following Goran Pandev's cross.
Right back Maicon added a third in the second half.
Milan almost had an awful start when former striker Hernan Crespo rattled the bar after 10 seconds for Parma.
Leonardo's side certainly had an awful end with Bojinov tapping in on 90 minutes after Christian Abbiati's save before Andrea Pirlo was sent off as tensions boiled over. Filippo Inzaghi was again on the bench for a toothless Milan despite his goal in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Napoli.
