Juve beats Genoa for 3rd straight win
JUVENTUS rallied to beat Genoa 3-2 yesterday for its third consecutive win in Serie A, keeping alive the Turin outfit's faint hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
Luca Toni came off the bench to score the winner in the 83rd minute against the team he began the season with. Genoa had gone ahead in the 7th with an own goal from Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci and Simone Pepe equalized in the 50th.
Genoa then took the lead again through Antonio Floro Flores in the 57th before Alessandro Matri made it 2-2 in the 63rd.
Juventus (51) still trails Udinese by five points for fourth place and the final Champions League berth.
On Saturday, champion Inter Milan ended a damaging week on a high by beating Chievo Verona 2-0 at the San Siro to move two points behind Serie A leader AC Milan.
Francesco Totti struck twice to lift AS Roma to a 2-1 win at injury-hit Udinese in the scrap for a place in next season's Champions League.
Second-half goals from Argentine midfielder Esteban Cambiasso and Brazilian defender Maicon gave spluttering Inter three points in a feisty encounter against battling Chievo to move one point above Napoli (62) before yesterday's games.
Coming on the back of comprehensive back-to-back defeats in the Milan derby and the Champions League, it was a significant victory for Inter.
