Lampard set for City loan
FRANK Lampard, who spent 13 seasons with English Premier League side Chelsea, could face his former club in September under a loan deal from his new Major League Soccer team to Manchester City.
The New York Daily News reported on Friday that Lampard, who signed a two-year deal last week with New York City FC, will be loaned to City for six months by the United States expansion team, which will play its first MLS season next March. The 36-year-old England midfielder hopes to keep his name in the mix for national team duty with the move.
City and Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees partnered to create the new MLS team, which has also signed Spanish star David Villa. Villa will be on loan with Melbourne, City’s sister club in Australia, until the MLS campaign begins.
