Madrid extends shirt deal with bwin
REAL Madrid said yesterday it has extended its shirt sponsorship deal with Austrian gambling operator bwin by three years to 2013.
"Bwin is a loyal partner which understands sport and especially football, which values quality and singularity and which knows how to profit from the emotion generated by Real Madrid throughout the world," Madrid president Florentino Perez was quoted as saying by news agency Europa Press.
Bwin's name first appeared on Madrid's shirt at the start of the 2007-08 season in a deal which was reportedly to earn the Spanish powerhouse €15-20 million (US$22-29 million) a year.
No new financial details have been made available.
Madrid's previous sponsor was BenQ, the German handset business of Taiwan's BenQ Corp, which went bankrupt.
Madrid, which leads the Spanish league after winning all its five games, hosts Marseille in a Champions League group game tomorrow.
