Managers vent their fury at English ref
BORUSSIA Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp was furious with the performance of English referee Howard Webb as his side just withheld a late Real Madrid onslaught to qualify for the Champions League final on Tuesday.
Klopp said they weren't helped by the leniency shown by Webb towards Real goal scorer Sergei Ramos.
"The game was crazy. From the first seconds each player of Real Madrid did things to bring the referee to one side so we had to not react and be cool," Klopp said. "I thought Ramos could do to (Robert) Lewandowski what he wanted and so to stay cool in these situations is great.
"I thought if we stayed calm and played our football that it was possible for us to go to the final tonight and I think we are the team that deserved to go to Wembley."
Real coach Jose Mourinho, who knows Webb well from his days as Chelsea manager, also said the official should have dismissed Dortmund's Mats Hummels for handball in the second half and accused him of not doing so to allow the center back to play in next month's final.
"It's incredible and I continue to say the same that he is a fantastic referee," Mourinho said. "But it's incredible that he didn't give Hummels a red card," added the outspoken Portuguese.
"I have spoken to him (Webb) already and he didn't give Mats Hummels a red card so that Mats Hummels can play in the final. There were 18 minutes left in the match. I come to the conclusion that in the end Webb is as good a referee as he is a person, with a big heart.
"Because he let a player off a red card to the detriment of the other team."
