Marseille Cup win marred by song row
THE French league has put Olympique Marseille's Taye Taiwo under investigation after the Nigeria defender chanted an anti-Paris St Germain song containing an expletive after its League Cup final win.
"The French Professional League has decided to open an investigation following Taye Taiwo's behavior after the League Cup final between Olympique Marseille and Montpellier," the LFP said in a statement yesterday. Taiwo scored Marseille's goal in its 1-0 defeat of Montpellier at the Stade de France on Saturday. After the team was presented with the trophy, he took a microphone and sang, along with fans, a song aimed at arch-rival PSG. Asked what he thought of the incident, Marseille coach Didier Deschamps replied: "I did not hear it. It will give you something to write about."
