Moreno sparkles as Shenhua holds Evergrande away

COLOMBIAN midfielder Giovanni Moreno did the star turn for Shanghai Shenhua last night, providing an assist and then scoring a vital late goal in salvaging a 2-2 draw against Marcello Lippi's table-topping Guangzhou Evergrande in the 19th round of the Chinese Super League.

Shenhua's Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba made his first start in the CSL last night in Guangzhou and played 94 minutes before he was substituted in the last minute.

Evergrande's Dario Conca scored the opening goal in the 40th minute and Shenhua's Song Boxuan equalized after receiving a pass from Moreno.

With the home crowd growing increasingly restless, Muriqui's strike in the 79th minute gave Evergrande the lead again, which, however, only lasted for one minute as Moreno found the net with a long-range shot.

Shenhua climbed up one place to 11th in the 16-team table with 21 points after last night's game while Evergrande remained on top with 40 points.
