Mota fires Suwon into last eight

A JOSE Mota double saw Suwon Bluewings storm into the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League with a 2-0 win over Beijing Guo'an in Suwon yesterday.

Mota opened the scoring with a header in the 27th minute and the Brazilian wrapped up a deserved win for the Koreans six minutes from the end.

Suwon fired an early warning when Mota volleyed a cross narrowly over the bar at the far post with just six minutes gone.

The game settled down into a cagey affair with neither side wanting to be caught out.

Yeom Ki-hun fired harmlessly over from 25 yards in the 25th after Mota had slipped the ball into the midfielder's path. But Suwon took the lead two minutes later and never looked back.
