No De Gea in United squad to face Villa

MANCHESTER United goalkeeper David de Gea will not return to the squad for his side’s game against Aston Villa today, manager Louis van Gaal has said.

Spain international De Gea, 24, missed United’s 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend because Van Gaal felt he was not in the right frame of mind due to rumors linking him with a move to Real Madrid.

New signing Sergio Romero deputized for United in its Premier League opener against Spurs and is likely to do so again at Villa Park. Asked if De Gea was in contention to play against Villa, Van Gaal said yesterday in Manchester: “No, it’s the same situation”.

Meanwhile, Yaya Toure’s first goal in Manchester City’s 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Monday has been reattributed to David Silva, the Premier League said yesterday.

Toure took a shot at goal in the 9th minute of the game at The Hawthorns and the ball flicked off Silva before going between defender Craig Dawson’s legs and trundling over the line.

“@MCFC’s 1st goal against West Brom was in fact a @21LVA goal and has not been credited to @YayaToure,” the Premier League said on Twitter.

Toure added a second goal in the 24th minute and captain Vincent Kompany made it 3-0.
